As a result of the introduction of the FSA regulation introduced on the 14 th January 2005 it is now a criminal offence for any organisation, such as a freight forwarder to be involved in the handling or arranging of cargo insurance unless they are registered and authorised by the FSA. In many cases freight forwarders have not obtained this regulatory approval and therefore must now withdraw from being involved in insurance, although there are other routes within the regulatory authority coding. It is expected that freight forwarders would lose the ability to provide this service to their Cargo Owner customers and consequently lose the revenue.
